Hori is planning a new retro-style arcade stick and controller to be used for retro gaming in general and Hamster’s Arcade Archives series in particular. Hori has worked up a few concepts, such as a modular one that would allow plays to change the controller to suit their needs, but the company has not gone forward with production yet. Instead, the company is encouraging fans to get in touch via email to share thoughts until 31st January 2021, after which Hori will decide to move forward or not.
As seen in the images, the controller may feature a stick, trackball, and dial to play games. The controller will be primarily designed for the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, which are the primary systems for Arcade Archives, though it could work on Xbox for ACA Neo Geo games.
It appears to offer four controls a normal stick, a trackball, a spinner/paddle (Arkanoid), and a spinner/joystick combo for SNK games like Ikari Warriors.
Further it seems to design is setup to accommodate dual stick games like Smash TV
