Kill La Kill is an awesome anime that tells the story of a girl and her living sailor suit. Ryuko Matoi is an awesome fighter who will do whatever she can to find out why her father died. In this game, players will relive parts of the original story but also delve into a new one. It’s great seeing this anime battle style erupt into a fighting game.

While not the greatest game, it does work well with the style of the show. The moves are flashy and everything does look rather cool. I enjoy the quickness of combat and how one wrong move can lead to a near-infinite combo of pain. Pick up the enemy with an attack and then simply attack until they attack back.

Though the combat certainly is fluid, it also does provide some challenge. The moves are often so fast, that linking them together can be easy. This works as a double-edged sword as the enemies can also wreck the player with a long string of attacks.

The characters also have their own signature moves that they can activate after getting hit and hitting their opponents. This is just another good use of the anime’s magic. I enjoy using these skills because they incorporate solid art and can simply cause a ton of damage. It’s good to use these sparingly and when the time is right for maximum effect.

This game doesn’t have many characters but they all are different. It’s interesting seeing their fighting styles manifest in the game. These characters each have their way of doing things and I enjoy seeing them in action even if I am facing them in battle.

It’s also cool to note that if the player plays the game in free play or against others, the characters will taunt each other. Each character has something to say to the person they are about to fight. They also say something when they win. This is just another good use of character and I appreciate the effort put into doing this.

This game has a story mode that can be enjoyed in either sub or dub. Now many will say the sub is better, but dub also has its merits. The exciting part about the dub of the story is that it is the original dub actors. That may not excite everyone, but that is a nice touch. It certainly makes the dubbed version more worthwhile especially if fans enjoyed the dub.

The real highlight of the story is that Satsuki becomes the protagonist. This all-new story is seen from her perspective which the show never did. I enjoyed seeing how she viewed the events, and it helped me understand her better as a character. Satsuki is an interesting character and I appreciate getting to know her just a little better. Plus she also makes one hell of a protagonist if I am being perfectly honest.

Ryuko also gets her own story after clearing Satsuki’s so players should look forward to that. The fact that the Satsuki story is so different from the anime makes it shine, but Ryuko’s story is just as good. It’s just fun playing through the stories and battling through this crazy anime world. The stories do go hand in hand which makes it even better to play through them.

This game also has multiplayer modes both online and off. Players can battle friends near and wide in Kill La Kill’s awesome fighting style. It’s great to face computer players and then face off against friends. The game does some getting used to so practicing and then defeating friends in their first few matches might be fun for some people.

The online mode is based on thread count. In this mode, players can either play matches online or play ranked. Matches online will be harder as real people will pour countless hours into honing their skills. Ranked is where the best of the best compete for the top spot, so don’t expect slouches. This is just another mode that comes with the territory but it sure to add hours of fun and maybe some heartache.

There is also a practice mode, which will help players master the battle system in the game. It’s always nice to have a place to figure things out especially when the combat is so flashy. This is the perfect place to round out the fighting skills and learn to play the other characters. While it may not be out of the norm, it is always nice to be able to master skills out of actual combat.

Though this game does offer more modes in practice as players clear the story. There is even a mode to simply survive which is always a fun model to have in a fighting game. A mode where the enemies don’t stop until the player is dead is always a great way to test the player’s mettle.

Another cool mode is the Covers challenge. In the story, players will fight covers or living clothing. In this mode, players will fight as many covers as they can. It’s cool dashing around beating slightly weaker enemies with the overly flashy moves to be sure.

The last mode on the start screen is a gallery. Players will unlock character models which they can pose in a variety of ways. Just a fun diversion really but cool all the same. There are also the movies which can be viewed and artwork of the characters. Just a nice hall of fame, where all the collectibles are housed really.

Again while not the best fighting game out there, this game does bring Kill La Kill out into the world. Kill La Kill tells a great story and I enjoyed seeing it through Satsuki’s eyes rather than Ryuko. The anime’s style lends itself to the flashy feel and it works for it. If the player enjoys Kill la Kill they might seriously enjoy this game. There are a lot of battles to win, will the player kill or be killed?
