Konami is making moves to bring back some of their classic games, as a few days ago, the company announced that in cooperation with Shueisha Game Creators Camp, it will be holding a contest for where indie developers to make games based on the company’s classic IPs. These IPs include Ganbare Goemon, Gradius, Star Soldier, Twinbee, Knightmare and others.

According to the rules, the game can be a remake or sequel. focus on a single character or mechanic from a previous game or even change and/or combine genres that the originals didn’t have. The goal is to collaborate with the indie developers to make these games commercial products. The contest will run until January 6th, 2022 with the grand prize being $18,000 and Konami publishing the commercialized product. Konami has stated it will even provide $270,000 USD in development funds to aid the devs and will provide “supervision, production advice and support regarding localization, promotion and development equipment”.
