Krut: The Mythic Wings is a game that had so much potential. The premise called to mind classic side-scrolling action games, the visuals looked interesting, and there seemed to be a good story. But when it all comes down to the final product, Krut: The Mythic Wings just fell short of being good.

Krut: The Mythic Wings’ problem is that it feels unpolished and predictable. The hit detection is off when facing many enemies, and many of the game’s moves and mechanics do not have the proper reaction time.  This is an issue because many of these moves are key to completion, and yet the gameplay starts to fight you as you go on.

Basic jumping, and later the flight mechanics feel far too stiff, and combat becomes slow and clunky when it needs to be smooth. This is somewhat offset by the fact that many enemies all share the same predictable pattern, and that takes the challenge out of the game. What makes it worse is that the challenge that is present is caused by faulty game design rather than a well thought and designed game.

It does not end there, however, as Krut: The Mythic Wings has a major problem with its visual style. The game looks fine in some dialogue scenes, but as soon as the game gets going the issues become apparent. Krut: The Mythic Wings looks good in small clips, but the longer you play, the more the game looks off-putting, grainy, and jittery.

The performance issues that affect the visuals and combat are not present in the audio realm for the most part, however, so there is that small mercy. The sound effects are not perfect and the music is nothing great, but nothing is offensive to the ears. Sadly, that just is not enough to save the game.

Krut: The Mythic Wings is a game to avoid for now. It is a game that had all the right ingredients but just could not put them together right. Find something other game to play and have more fun that way.
