Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee was announced recently and is looking to be quite an amazing game. This game is a return to the first generation and Kanto. A sequel to Pokemon Yellow, this will be quite the game.

Let’s Go, is clearly the testing ground for the Switch’s power, before Generation Eight, which was also announced to be coming out next year. It’s quite interesting, however, that we aren’t getting a Generation Four Remake, but it is a great time for the series to jump back into the past.

This game is quite different from other Pokemon Games in that it is a return to the past. They are removing a lot of features to call in the people who aren’t that into Pokemon. There is a substantial crowd that plays Pokemon Go, and this game is certainly working to pull them into the main game. This isn’t a bad thing as an increase in the Pokemon community will not only provide for more players to interact with.

In Let’s Go, the player will start with either Pikachu or Eevee and will be after badges and collecting all 150 original Pokemon. Both Pikachu and Eevee will be the stalwart members of the team and will travel throughout the game with the hero. This is in line with Pokemon Yellow which is this a sequel of, though usually, the rival chooses Eevee. Eevee being used as a mascot is a hint that the Pokemon Company hopes to give Eevee a bigger spotlight going forward.

Based on the trailer that was released there will be battles, but there won’t be wild battles. While this isn’t great, it makes sense. They are trying to pull in the Go fans who only have to capture Pokemon. While it might discourage veterans, it should make it easier for newbies to pick it up.

There are battles, which are a staple of the series, and that should bring in people to play it. A unique spin on the game is the fact that players can play with a friend on the Switch. With a drop in style, the second player will use the Pokemon the first player has collected. This also makes this the perfect game for parents to play with their kids. That is magical in and of itself.

Pikachu and Eevee are important Pokemon in this game as they do stay with the trainer for the whole game. They can’t be evolved and will actually ride on the player’s head. The player can dress them up and deck them out however they want which is a new feature. Clearly, they will become a powerhouse for the main character.

With following Pokemon returning for the first time in nearly a decade, this game is special. The last game to have following Pokemon were Heart Gold and Soul Silver, which were released way back in 2009. This time it’s a little different as the player will have their starter on their head and then another Pokemon on their team behind them. This is a first for the series, and I think its great.

Kanto looks great in HD on the Switch. The footage thus far shows a vibrant city flush with life and nostalgia for me as a veteran Pokemon fan. Team Rocket is back and ready to cause more mayhem. Everything shown so far is leading me to believe that this will be an amazing sequel!

One last thing that is mentioned in the reveal that is important is a new Pokemon will be joining the fray. This Pokemon is a mysterious one as it is a brand new Pokemon. Now, it could be a new Eeveelution, but it could also be something else. The prospect of a new Pokemon that could be considered a Generation Eight Pokemon should excite everyone. This game is the testing ground for the next Generation and this link should alleviate some hesitation some older player might be having.

Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, which comes out on November 16th, is coming closer by the day. I’m so excited to return to Kanto and see exactly what has happened since Pokemon Yellow. With E3 on the way, there will be more news coming soon, and that is truly amazing.
