Mega Man 11 developer Tsuchiya Kazuhiro was in Taiwan to discuss the game with the Chinese media and something interesting was mentioned.
When asked if another entry in the Mega Man X series would be coming, Kazuhiro stated that there isn’t one in development. However, he then said that a Mega Man X sequel depends on the reception to Mega Man 11.
Hopefully the game will sell well, and both series will continue.
