Lately, I’ve been really getting into geek fashion and, man, has my wallet been crying tears of sadness, while I cry tears of joy! I have been obsessing over Black Milk Clothing, but through other people, I’ve discovered another great company that focuses on geek fashion – Mitmunk!
Mitmunk describes themselves with the following:
MITMUNK is a Vancouver-based design studio run by Wayne Elliott and Heather Joan Tam, specializing in printed apparel and accessories.
Wayne is an artist with a background in video games. As founder of and designer for MITMUNK, he brings his love for striking, experimental street fashion into his artwork for Mitmunk’s printed clothing.
Heather is an interdisciplinary artist and Curator Emeritus of a community museum.
We love vintage illustrations, etchings, lithographs, serigraphs; the way ink sits on paper; blacks and grays and whites. You’ll find these elements in our designs, which are inspired by and use images from historic, public domain printed matter.
Mitmunk is a bit pricey, but a little more affordable than Black Milk Clothing ($72.35 vs. $80-90 – just leggings comparison). The benefit to Mitmunk over other geek fashion that I’ve seen so far is they offer bigger sizes. Other lines like Black Milk stop at XL, but Mitmunk goes all the way up to 3XL.
I think that their clothing looks great and I can’t wait for my first piece to come in!
