It seems a big change may be planned for the Switch eshop according to a a newly-published patent applied for by Nintendo. The parent reveals potential plans to display individualized game ratings on the Switch eShop, and was first spotted by Game Rant.

The patent is for a system that can “generate a base rating that is a function of gameplay data for a specific user,” and “an average external rating for [a] video game based on external data categories.” What this means is some form of rating based on individual factors. The patent mentions user reviews, critic reviews, and ownership data,  and also noted that once these are taken into account, an “adjustment factor” will be created using all of the data gathered and using it in combination that with “the user’s individual base rating.”
