Amid the rumours of a more powerful Switch model with 4K capabilities, Nintendo has filed some interesting patents. The two patents are for “SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MACHINE LEARNED IMAGE CONVERSION”. What this means is AI upscaling similar to Nvidia’s DLSS and Intel’s XeSS. According to the patents, the methods can be accelerated by matrix multiplication hardware, like Nvidia’s Tensor Cores
The patents were published today and list the inventors are being from France, which indicated NERD is the developer.
