Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has stated that the company is not looking to buy up external publishers as Microsoft and Sony have according to Bloomberg.

This is following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision and Sony’s purchase of Bungie earlier this year.

Furukawa stated:

Our brand was built upon products crafted with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who don’t possess Nintendo DNA in our group would not be a plus to the company.

Furukawa did state, however,  that Nintendo isn’t against acquisitions in principle, but only if they are necessary. And that if a valued partner is in a situation where acquisition is needed, Nintendo will do it, like with Next Level Games.
