Astral Chain is an IP that was previously held by both Nintendo and developer PlatinumGames, but things have changed now. Atsushi Inaba from PlatinumGames has confirmed to VGC that Astral Chain now fully belongs to Nintendo. This comes after the official website changed its copyright, and PlatinumGames was no longer listed.
Inaba said of the wording on the site that “it’s as it looks.”
“It’s as it is written on the website: Astral Chain is their IP and as such there are limitations on how much we feel we should talk about.”
A PlatinumGames spokesperson further said that the company was “not in a position to answer this question” when it came to IP ownership.
