Nintendo will be replacing the multiplayer server system they currently use called NEX, which has been used since the 3DS and Wii U era, with a brand new system called NPLN. NEX was an 18-year-old system and Nintendo felt the need to update.
The changeover will not be apparent to others right away, with the change in online play not being noticeable at first. Once the new system is implemented, however, they will be able to make a lot of changes to improve online interactions
The Monster Hunter Rise demo was the very first game to use this in public, and it seems it has been useful for testing.

OatmealDome further noted, “NEX is at least 18 years old by now, so it’s dated.” You might be surprised to hear that “the Splatoon 2 version has an unused function to check to see if it’s running on Windows 98.”
Hopefully, the new system will help a great deal./
