We are less than a week till the Nintendo Switch is released upon the world. Last Friday I got the chance to get hands with the system and a handful of titles here in beautiful San Francisco along with some of the other local press.
One of the first games I tried and was excited about since seeing it released was ARMS. Upon first look, it seeming like a new Wii boxing with new paint, which is only just a small part of the game. I played it a handful of times during my time at the event and slowly became hooked on the fast paced tactical fighting game. I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if ARMS made a debut at EVO next year.
Next, I made my way over to Splatoon 2 area. Being one of the few current gen games that still uses a cel shaded atheistic ala Jet Set Radio I was very excited. While my Ambassador told me to pick one easier weapon types, like the squirt guns or goes to roller, I selected the sniper class and was rightfully defeated several times in a row. Licking my wounds I mosied onto the next game.
Finally, I had made it to the Zelda themed part of the Warehouse. This would of probably been one of the first ones I wanted to play, but had ticket timed group sessions. After finally making my way to a kiosk I started the game, seeingand hearing familiar faces and cues. The demo itself wasn’t entirely long(roughly about 30 minutes) but was more than but a taste the of wonders and adventure it offers.
Some other games I had a chance with at the event were Just Dance 2017, Sonic Mania, Mario Kart 8, Street Fighter Super HD and more. While I won’t be getting one at launch I can safely say the Switch will be delivering a great experience for anyone who gets one in the coming months.
