Nintendo Switch sytem update version 12.0.0 may have  been underwhelming, but it seems there was more to it than we realized, thanks to info found by dataminers.

Twitter user OatmealDome, version 12.0.0 also allows for the dock’s internal firmware to be updated, which is itself unusual since there does not seem to be much to the device besides USB chips, a MyDP to HDMI converter, and flash memory to store its firmware.

This would also be the first update ever for the dock but the potential reasons why are what is interesting. OatmealDome and Twitter user hexkyz also pointed out a setting called “is_crda_fw_update_supported”.  There is speculation that  “CrdA”  refers to “Cradle Aula”,  Cradle (Dock) for Aula, with Aula possibly being a codename for a new Switch model.

There is no official news yet, so we will have to wait for more information from Nintendo.
