Que Ltd., a 100% owned Nintendo subsidiary in China has handled Nintendo sales in China for years. The company seems to be moving into a new direction however, and is transitioning to become a game programming / tool programming assistant for Nintendo games. Originally founded in 2002 with Nintendo 64 /GameCube architect Wei Yen, to create and sell versions of Nintendo products under a custom hardware branded the iQue line,, the company has shifted to development and localizing since 2017. That said, a change has occurred recently however, where the company has moved from localization towards fulltime development and assistance

iQue  has posted several jobs that indicate this change for example.

(1) Job – Programmer

  • Development of game software projects for Nintendo-related platforms.
  • According to the specific conditions of the project, work with art and designers to complete the development of the project.

This is Nintendo’s first major studio in China and represents a big change for the company going forward. With their partnership with Tencent, Nintendo has a new foothold in China, and so it seems they wish to capitalize on that fully.
