Epic Games is beginning to shut down online services for many of its older games, including Rock Band 1 through 3, The Beatles: Rock Band, and Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004 and says it is making the changes as part of a move “to solely support Epic Online Services with its unified friends system, voice chat features, parental controls, and parental verification features,”
Online services will be fully disabled by January 24th, but single-player or offline multiplayer will continue, and Epic is also beginning to remove the games from digital storefronts and disabling in-game DLC purchases.

This is not all though as Epic is releasing Unreal Tournament 3 X. This was found in a listing on Steam where the page for Unreal Tournament 3 was renamed Unreal Tournament 3 X. The new version will be completely free to all players with no in-game purchases and the client will feature cross-play between players on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.com. In other words, basically, the same game but totally free with no MTX and with crossplay included.
