Pokemon GO is undergoing emergency temporary changes due to the coronavirus  making these types of interactions the game is built around almost impossible.

A representative for Niantic stated that the company is  “prioritizing updates to Pokémon GO features and experiences that can be enjoyed in individual settings.”  Adding also that habitats will be increased, allowing players to see more monsters nearby while playing closer to home. In addition, incense packs are also involved and are seeing a 99 percent discount. They will now last an hour while active and Incense will help to increase monster spawns.

Other changes include Players being able to hatch eggs twice as fast, using incubators and more changes are planned as Niantic is looking to avoid any spreading of the pandemic.
