Rondo of Blood was innovative in many ways, especially with regards to the gameplay in general. The game had so many new abilities for you to use, such as acrobatic moves, and the addition of a second character changed things up. Players could use sub-weapons in new ways such as the item crash and playing as Maria brought with it an incredibly unique playstyle, both of which provided a much different Castlevania than what had ever come before.

The music in this game was also a standout, and it was thanks to being on a CD system. It would not be a stretch to say that this game has the best music in the entire series, with some of the most iconic incarnations of the famous tunes. It would also not be an exaggeration to say the game’s music is in some ways than the direct sequel Symphony of the Night. The music just sounds so amazing, and it is clear that the team went all out with the presentation, along with visuals and animations that were of a much higher quality than before.

What was most notable, however, was the story that is one of the most important in the entire series. It brought the narrative forward in a new way and established the groundwork for Symphony of the Night, the Sorrow games and more. Rondo of Blood in general brought new gameplay mechanics and ideas, that made it superior to what came before.

While Super Castlevania IV was a perfection of what came before, and Bloodlines took a different look at the formula, it was Rondo that laid the groundwork for the series movie forward. This is a must-play game whether played on the PS4 or the LRG Turbo Duo release. This is a truly excellent experience and one that everyone should try.
