Retroarch has something special coming for retro gaming fans
In a new blog post, RetroArch revealed the company is s creating a hardware solution that will allow gamers to run N64 cartridges on PC. The RetroArch team has partnered with a hardware manufacturer for a commercial release, but the product will still be a “free and open DIY route”, and there are plans for a base unit and add-on modules after the initial focus on N64. RetroArch noted that while production can begin as early as mid-2022, the ongoing global chip shortage means there may be issues along the way.
RetroArch has launched an Open-Hardware Newsletter to keep people up to date on the project, and a survey to gauge interest in what the future should hold for it.
