Elder Scrolls Online has gained a new expansion and wit it we will return to Skyrim.  ESO previously only contained Eastern Skyrim for players to explore, but now the western half, including Solitude and more, are here to experience again. For those wanting this to be Skyrim 2 however, you are out of luck. Due to constrains, this is scaled down from the 2011 game, but does offer much to explore and a lot of new insight into the game. Greymoor is part of the Dark Heart of Skyrim event that will last throughout the year, and continue to be built on. This is a darker look into the story of ESO, and with it comes a new vampire storyline and a reworking of the related skill tree.

The expansion mainly focuses on two main areas,  and they are the above ground of Western Skyrim and the below world of Blackreach. Blackreach appeared in Skyrim but a lot about the location was left to the imagination. Not so here, where a lot of new details are revealed and a lot more of the area can be explored than in Skryim.  This expansion will give you several hours of content, including ten Harrowstorms, six world bosses, six delves and two public dungeons.  The content makes full use of both above ground Skyrim and Blackreach, and exploring to find new hidden details is very welcome. You can even  get new players homes, with more coming in the future that will include one in Blackreach.

The big new addition is the Antiquities system, which is a new skill line that will have you explore all of Tamriel to fine new treasures for buried treasures. Treasures are found though a series of puzzle mini games, and are a great way to spend time and are very involved. The Antiquities system skill line will increase your abilities during the puzzles and make a number of them simpler to solve while also opening up new ways to find treasures. Its a good way to add minigames while still adding to the lore of The Elder Scrolls, as the treasures do relate to events in the series lore. These treasures can also be displayed in your home when you are done with them. Now as to the Vampire skill tree, it has been massively reworked here.  Now were are given new animations for vampire characters and new build options are available to try out new gameplay methods. Vampires can now try new skills and abilities and can come up with some interesting methods to go about the game.

I want to also touch on how this may be the most lore intensive expansion yet for ESO. Greymoor not only brings more explanations for many unanswered questions in Skyrim, such as about Blackreach, but also touches on more esoteric concepts. I do not want to give spoilers here, but I will say that Tonal Manipulation does play a role in some quests. It feels like Bethesda and Zenimax Online are starting to tease fans less with lore reveals, and are instead coming right out and exploring concepts in their entirety. At the same time though, they add more questions and give us new things upon which to ponder.

Overall. Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is a great expansion and a great way to experience more of the cold Northlands of Tamriel. I highly recommend it.
