Recently I has the chance to speak with FTE Games about Johnny Turbo’s Arcade and the Data East classics being brought to Switch and other systems. and some interesting details were shared.

..……………

JB: How did the Johnny Turbo’s Arcade line of re-releases come about?

JT: I had been pursuing doing this for many years after i brought Hudson soft back in the early 90’s I wanted to do this and more.

Bring back arcade games to today’s game players. We are working on bringing back many more. It just takes a great deal of time to get things in place. Starting with Data east was more a passion thing for me.

JB: How do you determine which games to release, and in what order?

JT: We have chosen some of the best titles that we think will bring back these kinds of games.

JB: Johnny Turbo has an interesting history as a mascot. How did you decide to use him as a mascot for this line of games and were there any issues in doing so?

JT: I am Johnny Turbo, I am a real person

JB: There are many Data East Arcade games that have never released on home consoles such as Rohga, Boogie Wings and so on. What is the odds of seeing any of these appearing on Switch?

JT: We are working to being many more will keep you updated when we can say.

JB: Do you plan to expand to some of Data East’s console exclusive games such as the ones they did on the PC engine/Turbo Grafx 16?

JT: We are planning to.

JB: Many great Data East arcade classics (Robocop, Ghostbusters) were licensed games, have you thought about trying to re-release those? Perhaps using kickstarter to get the money to obtain the licenses for those games?

JT: We can’t talk about this about the moment but stay tuned.
