Sonic Origins was released today and one voice who is unhappy with the result is Simon Thomley aka Stealth.

Thomley stated that while there were some issues in what they gave to Sega, the final product in Sonic Origins is not what was given. He went on to state that they were outsiders working on a separate project who were then forced into Sega’s project.

While acknowledging Headcannon did make mistakes and that some issues were from them, including problems they missed and tried to fix later only for Sega to tell them no, he also stated that Headcannon asked to do major fixes near submission but weren’t allowed due to submission and approval rules. Headcannon also asked about delays early on and was repeatedly told they weren’t possible.

Thomley also stated that because of this fixed deadline, the team was crunched beyond their limit and are themselves frustrated with how things turned out, notably with Sonic 3. Headcannon has offered to come back for post-release fixes and updates but does not yet know if this will happen.

Sonic Origins is out now on all major platforms.
