Swedish developer Frogsong Studios today announced that their PvP arena brawler, Spellsworn, has officially stepped out of Steam Early Access into a free to play launch on Steam. In a world gripped by a war between powerful wizards, the strongest and fastest must prove their genius over intense spellcasting battles in the Spellsworn arena. To stand victorious, players need not only outwit opponents in the art of wizardry, but also leverage the arcane-powered surroundings to their advantage, causing chaos on the arena.
“We drew inspiration from the WarCraft 3 custom mod, Warlocks, taking the fighting element of the game and building the whole Spellsworn experience around it”, said Stefan Jonsson, CEO of Frogsong Studios. “It will appeal to those players who like quick skill-based fighting matches without the hassle of managing the economic side of the game. So jump into the Spellsworn arena and brawl away!”
Along with the free to play launch, developers have released new content, including three new spells and over 10 cosmetic items. Plus, for the next seven days players can enjoy a x2 drop chance as part of the increased loot drop event. New players will soon be able to purchase the Collector’s Edition in order to get two Legendary Skins and two Legendary Staffs, while Early Access supporters will automatically get the Collector’s Edition and the Founder’s Edition, containing two additional Legendary items, exclusive to pre-launch players. Also, this weekend (March 18th) players can participate in a 2v2 tournament on Overpowered Noobs to win special prizes. Visit http://opnoobs.com/e4i/spellsworn for more information.
In Spellsworn, players rely upon tactics and quick reflexes to outsmart and obliterate opponents, using a well thought out combination of spells across different disciplines. Players battle it out in teams or free-for-all over intense five-round matches for up to eight players. Between each round, the magic arsenal can be customized by trading or upgrading spells to switch up strategy and mess with the minds of rival wizards. The magic mayhem reaches another level once the hazardous environment begins wreaking havoc on the playable field, causing damage over time to each player pushed off of the arena. With an ever-changing environment that poses as much of a threat as the enemy, adaptation is just as important as a quick hand and mind.
Spellsworn is a great looking game, and going free to play is a neat move for the developers. Will you be checking this out?
