Games that take infuence from classic titles are always great to see and one that deserves some attention is Shattered Ninja, which developer YangBin has described as Ninja Gaiden meets Metroidvania.
A new clip and screenshots of the game also show another influence as well, in the form of Capcom’s Strider series, particularly in the protagonist’s design which hearkens back to Marvel vs Capcom 1’s redesign of Strider Hiryu, as well as the sword effects which call to mind the weapons in Strider.
You can see footage below that YangBin shared on Twitter of the game’s UI refresh, which also shows off some excellent combat and enemy design.
The point is that I finally made the UI look great. pic.twitter.com/KWxRrbiav5
