Super Bomberman R has sold nearly one million copies worldwide on Switch according to Konami president Hideki Hayakawa, in an interview with Nikkei Trendy. Hayagawa believes the fact that Super Bomberman R was the only completely original third-party title available at Switch’s launch helped the game catch on with new system owners. He also noted that aside from Japan, the game has been performing well in the west.
Tatsumi Kimishima of Nintendo had previously confirmed that Super Bomberman R shipped over 500,000 copies in March 2017,less than a month after launch. This makes the game one of the highest selling entries in the series and one of the first success stories for Switch.
