The Nintendo Switch had a very good time in March according to NPD analyst Sam Naji who revealed that Nintendo broke records. The Switch had the best launch for Nintendo hardware and the second best hardware launch since 1995 for any platform. 1995 being the time when NPD began tracking such sales.
He stated.
In this debut month (month 1), the Nintendo Switch sold 31K more units than previous best-selling Nintendo month-1 platform, the Game Boy Advanced, which released back in June 2001. The two Nintendo Switch SKUs, the 32GB Gray Joy-Con, followed by the 32GB Neon Red/Blue Joy-Con, were the best-selling systems for the month.”
What was also amazing that he mentioned, was the fact that the total Zelda franchise sales from 1995 to the present comes in at around $1.4 billion. Zelda is actually the top-selling property of all time within the Adventure super genre, and has sold 54 percent more revenue than the next best-selling franchise, which is Resident Evil, meaning that is a wide super genre.
