Telltale, an independent developer and publisher of story-driven games, today announced that it has reissued its critically-acclaimed pirate adventure Tales of Monkey Island™ on the App Store for most iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices. Previously re-issued for PC in July of last year, the iPhone/iPad-enhanced game is once again available today for $4.99 USD per chapter or the entire five-chapter Complete Season bundle for $14.99 USD on the App Store.

Continuing the adventure originally created by LucasArts, Tales of Monkey Island follows pirate Guybrush Threepwood, who—while attempting to destroy his nemesis, the undead pirate LeChuck—accidentally releases a voodoo pox across the Gulf of Mélange. With the assistance of his wife, Elaine Marley–Threepwood, Guybrush seeks out a cure.

Episodes include:

  • Episode 1: “Launch of the Screaming Narwhal” – After accidentally releasing a voodoo pox while trying to destroy LeChuck, Guybrush investigates the winds keeping ships from leaving Flotsam Island.
  • Episode 2: “The Siege of Spinner Cay” – Guybrush travels to the Jerkbait Islands to learn about La Esponje Grande, a voodoo sea sponge and possible cure for the pox.
  • Episode 3: “Lair of the Leviathan” – After their ship is swallowed by a giant manatee, Guybrush and Morgan LeFlay must escape and secure La Esponje Grande.
  • Episode 4: “The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood” – Guybrush returns to Flotsam Island and is put on trial for misdemeanors committed during his last visit.
  • Episode 5: “Rise of the Pirate God” – Guybrush must find a way to escape the crossroads of the afterlife and thwart LeChuck’s rise to power.

Praised by OC Weekly as the “Best Series Revival” of the year, 2009, and included in several “Top Games” roundups when it first launched in 2009, Tales of Monkey Island is the fifth game in the Monkey Island series. GameSpot called the series “… a lengthy adventure that’s easy to enjoy and easy on your wallet, sure to please both newcomers and veteran insult sword fighters alike.”

“Many of Telltale’s games, such as Tales of Monkey Island, were hugely popular and beloved by so many people that we wanted to make them available again for fans to play and share with an entirely new audience,” said Jamie Ottilie, CEO of Telltale. “We feel a responsibility to the legacy Telltale has for great storytelling and build on it with new games we have in development for the brand’s many fans.

Tales of Monkey Island on the App Store is the most recent of several Telltale reissues of the company’s popular back catalog of games that include the Telltale Batman Series, and The Wolf Among Us. The company revealed that it has started production on The Wolf Among Us 2 during the 2019 Game Awards.

Since the company’s revival, Telltale has also re-released Puzzle Agent 1 & 2Hector: Badge of Carnage, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, and Telltale Texas Hold’Em!. The company released a special edition of its Telltale Batman Series, Telltale Batman: Shadows Edition, which marked Season 2’s first appearance on Nintendo Switch

Tales of Monkey Island is available today on the App Store for most iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices at a suggested retail price of $4.99 per episode or $14.99 for the entire season. For additional information, please visit https://telltale.com/.
