Tetris 99 has been a major hit for Nintendo (and we have argued, a selling point for Nintendo Switch Online), turning Tetris into a Battle Royale game in a unique twist on the formula. The game was developed by Arika, who have an excellent pedigree when it comes to Tetris games.
Nintendo’s announcement that they were going to apply the formula to Super Mario Bros, drew interest from many, and we now have confirmation that Nintendo is once again turning to Arika to develop the game. This will no doubt be reflected in the quality of the game, as Arika have the talent to pull this off.
