It has been revealed via Twitter that console ports of Tetris The GrandMaster are coming at last. Not only that, but there is potential for a sequel if there’s enough interest and sales in the console ports.

Tetris The GrandMaster was a series of arcade games developed by Arika from 1998-2005 with the twist in that the player is automatically given ranks according to their score. This score ranges from 9 up to Grand Master (GM). and the higher your rank is, the faster the game goes. The game will end once the player reaches level 999, but in order to reach GM, players have to also meet specific time requirements while playing.

Arika has developed other Tetris titles since then, including Tetris 99.
