Bleed was a game I described in my review, as a hardcore cute em up game. It was fast paced but definitely had a cutesy atmosphere that at times hid its true intense nature from people. The sequel Bleed 2 has now been released and I cant help but notice how similar the game is to the first one, but different in all the right ways. It maintains the game’s art style and music, and as such also maintains the game’s charming nature that hides its brutal gameplay.
Bleed 2 continues the intense side scrolling shooing action but everything just feels more refined. The jumps are better, the bullet time techniques are tweaked just right, and overall it just feels faster paced than its predecessor. The plot picks up right where the first one left off and kicks in right away, before you get any chance to ease in. This is not a bad thing though, as it gets you to the action much faster and that is always a nice thing. Another nice change is that there are more difficulty options for players , so the game can be enjoyed by anyone.
It is not perfect however, as the game has one major flaw that holds it back from being perfect. That flaw is that the game is a bit too short for my liking, and a bit more to the main game would have been nicer. Fortunately there are a variety of other modes to try out in the game, which does help expand the experience. These include multiplayer modes, endless modes, and arcade style modes. These definitely help give a lot more depth to the game and add to the replay factor, which is something I wish other games would do more.
I really liked Bleed 2 and feel it is a worthy follow up to its predecessor. If you like action games, then give this one a look.
