A rare piece of Sonic the Hedgehog’s history has been found and made available to all, as an English language version of the sit-in arcade game SEGA Sonic Cosmo Fighter has been found,  dumped and released to the public by Twitter user “IAMAMAZING100“, who has been in possession of a legitimate SEGA Sonic Cosmo Fighter arcade cabinet since June 2021. It should be noted that the ROM dump is not currently playable on MAME but fans can download the ROM in advance of the next MAME update, which will make it playable.

While the ROM is not yet playable, some sonic fans have started to run the file through audio software, and there was a surprising result. Running the fil through audio software will let you hear the voices of Sonic and Eggman as the game runs.

SEGA Sonic Cosmo Fighter is an incredibly rare piece of both Sonic history and arcade history in general owing to due to its extremely limited Japan-only run in the early 90s.  The finding of an English language version has been nothing short of astounding, and the ROM dump will soon help Arcade preservation in a large way.
