Full Metal Furies is an excellent four-player cooperative game. Player’s control a battalion of four women who are out to take down the gods. They must band together to fight waves of enemies and save the world at the same time. The entire game is playable by one player, but it is best to play with more than one person I played through the game by myself but was allowed two of the girls. It’s best to switch between them because they all level up individually. Each of the girls has their role and the difficulty changes based on which characters are in play. The four girls are all battle-ready, so it doesn’t matter which girl the player chooses.

The four girls fall into four different classes. There is a tank, a sniper, a fighter, and an engineer. The Tank is a three-star difficulty, the Fighter and Engineer are four-star, and the Sniper is the hardest at five-star. The battles can get rather tricky, so it’s important to figure out which girl the player likes best. Players run around activating their special abilities to take down enemies. Each girl can use a basic move, like a shield strike or an ax swing. They can quickly dodge with their evade skill. They each also have a special skill that can disrupt enemy moves. Each of the actual abilities has a cooldown, so it’s best to rely on the basic attack. Enemies also have skills to use. Plus they can summon barriers that will block attacks. These barriers protect the enemy from a certain girl’s attack. It’s best to constantly switch, especially in single-player to take them out. Using the girl’s special attack will stop their big moves so use those wisely.

The game itself is rather quick. Players run through war-torn settlements taking out waves on enemies. Players will collect gold and medkits while they fight through the enemies. Slowly but surely making their way to a boss fight. The bosses are all different and will test the player’s mettle. They are all rather fun though, as they differ from regular fights. The fights take place in larger arenas where players might need to face multiple enemies. The enemies are far more likely to use stronger attacks and get multiple shields. These fights might be risky, but they offer great rewards. Player’s will collect magical items like the Golden Fleece from these battles.

After clearing a level the players will return to the base. The base holds the weapons store and also allows players to fill out their skill trees. This game offers a good amount of customization as the player levels up their squad. It’s great seeing the girls slowly get stronger as they head towards their goal. The base is also a great place to regroup. Here players can switch their current party. While it isn’t ideal in single player, it is good to switch up the party from time to time. The girls each have their playstyles and jumping between them helps pad out the squad. Plus it is rather cute seeing them sleep in sleeping bags when they aren’t used in battle.

Players will need to grind up the money so retrying stages isn’t a bad option. Every battle will slowly level up the girls too which is also important. The more money the girls accrue, the higher they will climb their respective skill trees. It’s also important to put the treasures found in the display case to activate their abilities. Players also need to be aware that they will want open briefcases. These briefcases are hidden in levels and hold stashes of cash which comes in handy. There are also stone pillars to be found. While neither of these is truly necessary, it’s nice to have something else to collect while playing this game.

Full Metal Furies is a great multiplayer game too. Players can play locally with friends using any controller. They can also play online which can be chaotic. This game is best played locally as then players can interact. Online, the gloves are off and players are just going to have to hope they will find good teammates. Full Metal Furies is a great game whether played alone or with friends. It’s played in spurts or a long session too. This game has a lot to offer and playing it both solo and with friends was fun. The story is solid and the game is well-paced. There’s a new school with old school foes, will the player jump into the fray?
