Lego DC Supervillains tells the story of a DC Universe in trouble. Only this time, the villains are taking the spotlight. A villainous group from another dimension is coming to take out the Justice League. Led by a shadowy leader, they soundly send the Justice League away. This time though the dark side realizes if they want to take the world over themselves, they will have to save it.

The villains are led mostly by Lex Luthor. Lex Luthor at the beginning of the game helps a young villain escape from jail. This villain is officially known as the Rookie but becomes the main character of the game. This character is mold-able by the player and soon becomes quite the powerhouse. It’s interesting to see this character grow and change, and soon acquire many of the powers the other characters possess.

Amidst the prison break led by Luthor, a group of heroes from another world come through and decide to try their hand at saving this world. Though if these characters are actually good is to be questioned. These characters are in fact from another Earth and have similar powers to the Justice League. It’s great for the game to bring in such a similar yet different Justice League. These characters haven’t been used in a Lego game before so I find it to be cool.

This game is classic Lego video game fare, with a multitude of characters to play as in a massive Lego world. This game is no exception and has a rather large open world hub for the player to explore. This hub is filled with extra content and fun to be had. This hub is a massive place that is living and grand to explore.

There are countless missions to deal with and people to mess with. If villains are too dastardly then the police will show up to dole out justice, even though they don’t stand a chance. It’s a good thing to add because it can be easy to keep causing chaos, especially when controlling someone like the Joker.

Players must beat the story levels to unlock the ability to play as whoever they like. Once they beat the level they can jump back in with their posse of favorites and take on the story all over again. It’s just a fun way to play a game again, only this time with the best of the best. I also rather enjoy how when players defeat an enemy they take a selfie over the foe. It’s rather weird though because the enemies tend to be smiling all the time.

This game is also the first Lego game that has photo mode. Photo mode is a great addition to this series. Photo modes are becoming mainstays in games and the option to take amazing pictures is often entertaining. It’s hilarious watching any of these characters pull their phones out of their pockets and take a selfie. Sometimes there are even achievements to unlock by taking certain pictures. Plus, of course, the Joker would definitely take a selfie of him and Batman. The characters themselves even try to make faces for the camera and which can be a funny sight to see.

This game is fantastic because it brings back much of the talent from the animated world. The cast is stacked with stellar voice acting. Fans will be thrilled to hear the actors return to these great roles. It’s great to play this game especially as a fan of the classic 90’s shows. The fact that all of these actors continue to come back to voice these characters proves how amazing the shows were.

Lego DC Super-villains is an amazing game that tells a solid story. It’s great playing as the villains and charging around Gotham and Metropolis. The characters are so full of life and the world is full of energy. Lego games are great to play because they are often just easy and fun, and sometimes an easier game is fun especially for couch co-op! Earth is in trouble and the Justice League is gone, will the player help the villains save the world?
