Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a fantastic top-down dungeon-crawling series. The player delves into dungeons with Pokemon as the player characters. In a world devoid of humans the Pokemon have been able to live the best life possible. It’s a stellar world where the Pokemon can talk take on requests to save any other Pokemon in need of trouble. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue Rescue Team both came out in 2005. It’s now been fifteen years, but this DX version is looking amazing. I was always a fan of the first game as honestly, it was the only game I played in the series. It’s great to finally be able to play through this game again, as I’ve honestly wanted to for a while now. With a new coat of paint and new features abound this game is sure to be a treat.
While this demo is just a tease of the main game it does let the player enjoy a bit of the story. Player’s will start by answering a short quiz, which will tell the player what Pokemon they are. Though they can always deny that and choose whatever Pokemon they wish. They then will be tasked with choosing their partner. In this game, it’s great because the only thing stopping the player is the type of Pokemon. They can choose between a rather large group of Pokemon. These include the Starters from Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, along with a few other nice selections like Machop, Eevee, Pikachu, Meowth, Skitty, and Psyduck.
After choosing the main duo players will be sent into their first dungeon. The dungeons are great and even though the first two are rather small it does provide a good test. Player’s will learn if they enjoy the game and that is what demos are made for. Players can grind to max level in this demo if they so choose, because of the wind that blows. This wind is a powerful phenomenon that sends the pair out of the dungeon. Player’s will find a solid number of Pokemon to take down in the dungeon. Though they can’t ask them to join their ranks. This demo is merely a teaser for the great game to come and I appreciate the chance to play it before the game releases. It also helps that the save data will transfer into the main game, as that allows players to simply jump into the main story a bit faster.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is a great game and this demo proves it. With the added save data transfer, this demo is a great way to test out the game. Play the demo to see if the game works for the player. It’s a good idea to play through the demo now, as the game isn’t going to change much now that it is so close to being released. The Rescue Team DX Demo is a great one and is worth playing, will the player set up their rescue team and check it out?
