Hayato is your everyday anime styled protagonist, he’s got this striking blue hair, and finds himself in a topsy-turvy world. Hayato is an Occult reporter and while on a case, he meets a strange woman. This woman gives him a chest of sorts after he nearly dies. Hayato is resurrected and soon finds himself face to face with an Angel. This Angel is a beautiful one named Lua, and she aids Hayato in his quest.

Hayato isn’t the hero type, he just wants to work and figure out the occult world. His heart softens as he travels with Lua and finds himself embroiled in a fight between Angels, Demons, and Fallen Angels. It is important to note that these 3 classes are different. It is interesting seeing which monsters appear in battle because they follow these three classes. The reason this is so important is that players will gather Karma, which is the only way to level up the spirits. The player must be constantly aware of answering questions as they can often net substantial amounts of either Good, Evil, or Dual Karma.

Hayato gains the magical Gangour a gun that allows him to capture these powerful beings. Using the Gangour and special bullets he is able to damage and capture the monsters. It is wise to make sure the player is using the right kind of bullet as type advantages can make the capturing easier. Hayato may start out with only a single type of bullet but by the end, he will amass quite a stash. These bullets can also turn the tide of battle, as their attacks can be devastating. It is worth noting that this attack will stop all monsters from attacking as they attack together. This is just such a unique feature and it is one that makes this game even more interesting. Firing the Gangour just feels right and seeing the monster get captured is always fulfilling.

The player will travel through dungeons where every step can be an encounter. The player can move rather quickly through the dungeons and it is possible to face fight after fight. The dungeons are rather detailed and offer their own differences, which makes them all unique. At the end, the player will face a boss, who after they defeat can be used on the player’s team.

This game is made even better with solid voice acting. Hearing the character’s speak for the first time is always a delight. The character all has their own way of speaking and that adds another layer to this great RPG. It is surprising to me that more games don’t include voice acting.

This game is solid RPG, and has great battles. The monsters all have unique powers, and some are rather strong. It’s always good to have a monster who attacks all the enemies on the screen, as that can be a quick way to help the team level up. There are elemental weaknesses to take advantage of as well.

The game allows for a high amount of customization when making teams. It’s also good to set up a sub-team, as once in the dungeon these spirits can be transferred in. The player is in possession of a special device that allows him to swap spirits but it has a battery. Use up all the charge and the player will have to find the exit or warp out.

This game is also interesting in that the higher powers that be will often come to change the game. While it might not be the biggest change the player may find themselves with a strong monster they never had before. When this happens a certain angel talks directly to the player and offers his input on the events in the game. He may even talk to other angels and give the player insight. It’s good for the player to pay attention to these moments as they help tie up loose ends.

There are a variety of different places in the world outside of the dungeons in which the player can buy goods. The Witch House Book Store is the place the hero will frequent to buy items. They will eventually offer a service to send items back from the player’s desk and gather the funds on their next visit. It is good to gather items and sell them as that is the only way to quickly gain funds.

Pandemonium Camera is another important locale that will help identify unknown items. Using this place is great because the player will soon find themselves with too many unknown items. He can also smelt items together to increase their power even more. There is also Maka Spa which will provide buffs to Hayato and his team. Head there before every trip into the Dungeons to maximize the effectiveness of the player’s fighters.

Chodenji is the home of the most important helper, a cyber priest surrounded by cats. This weird character, who might take some getting used to, is essential in making the best team. Using his offerings, players will be able to make their army even stronger. He provides a spirit scale, which allows players to swap abilities amongst their army. There is also Spirit Return which sends the Spirits away and provides the player with Karma. Evilving is the most important though as players can strengthen their monsters even more. Evilved spirits are far better than unevilved so work to evilve all you can.

The player will also work to complete quests for people. There are quests that are completed just by finishing dungeons, but there are also quests that need certain items. Watching the world continue to grow is part of the fun, and this world does continue to grow rather regularly as the player continues their journey.

Lost Child is a fantastic RPG filled with monsters to collect and raise. It has great characters, a rich world, and excellent artwork. The voice acting is superb and all of it together makes this quite the game. The Lost Child is definitely a game worth picking up for anyone who has an itch to raise a trio of monsters and delve into dungeons. The Lost Child is out on June 19th, and with the universe against him, Hayato is going to need the player’s help to save the world!
