The Wii U is already seeing some very positive signs of it’s success. One thing that’s looking really good for the Wii U is it’s pre-order sales. It looks like Nintendo may have another hard to find situation, like it did with the Wii’s release back 2006. Inventory was short and many retailers were left with no stock at all, lines of people would form outside retailers several hours before the store opening, in order to get their hands on a console before the holidays arrived.
Wii U pre-orders have now sold for both Basic and Deluxe models at Best Buy, Toy-R-Us and Target. K-Mart and Sears, which are the part of the same company, have both sold out of the Deluxe version and they never had the Basic model to begin with.
GameStop sold out of the Deluxe bundle, but the white Basic is still available for pre-order at this time.
Wal-Mart at this point is the only know retailer that still has their inventory in place. Note that Wal-Mart also offers their own version of a Deluxe set, which they call the “Wal-Mart Solution Bundle“. The bundle adds a Wii Remote Plus and a choice of a Wii U game to a system of their choice. The Solution Bundle is $400 for the Basic set or $450 for the Deluxe.
