Some interesting new details were revealed in a Famitsu interview with SEGA’s creative director Yosuke Okunari.
Mr. Okunari was asked about the company’s plans for the future are in regards to mini consoles and the response should excite many fans. While nothing has been fully decided, the next mini will likely be an SG-1000 Mini or the highly desired Dreamcast Mini.
Okunari noted that Sega is considering things that almost everyone has imagined they could be doing, but it doesn’t mean all can be done. They are also working on ideas no one has thought of yet. Furthermore, the minis are considered on a cost by cost basis, so ones with a high possibility for return on investment will be the ones to go forward.
He also noted that while the Game Gear Micro is only been sold in Japan, their next mini will be bigger in scope and released worldwide. That said, this is still some time away.
