Cotton Reboot is out in Japan for Switch and PS4 and is arriving in the west sometime in 2021, and the developers are not done with the game yet.
A free update coming in early May will add Appli ke Pumpkin and her talking hat companion Needle from Cotton 2 as a playable character as announced at Shooting Game Daikanshasai 2021. In addition, the update will also bring improved screen visibility and various bug fixes.
Appli’s difficulty has been rebalanced to allow new players to clear the game without a continue, and is characterized by her powerful shots and speedy movement. The character is voiced by Hyo-sei, who previously voiced her in Cotton 2, under the name Kumiko Yokote. However, Needle is being designed as a more difficult character for veterans to enjoy, albeit his high rapid-fire speed will make him more suitable for racking up points quickly. Needles will be voiced by Yoshinori Ishikawa.
