There have been numerous spinoff games from the Mario series over the years, from Kart racing to RPGs. Even other characters like Peach, Luigi and Wario got their own games, but not Bowser, which is strange considering Bowser is Mario’s most well known foe .He needs his own game, but what type of game would work best for Bowser?

After thinking about it, I realized that Bowser would be perfect  for a brawler/beat-em-up type of game. Nintendo doesn’t have too many action games like that besides maybe Bayonetta, and this could be a neat way to test out a unique Nintendo take on that genre. Bowser could use his various abilities, use items and weapons from his past, and summon aid from his various minions and allies. This could be done as a perspective flip of playing as Bowser attacking the Mushroom Kingdom, or it could be a new story where Bowser takes on a new foe altogether.

If done right, this could be Nintendo’s first Mario game rated for older audiences than usual, and maybe a tiny  bit more violence which would allow them to branch out more. And why not? Bowser isn’t a hero who has to act a certain way. As the villain of the Mario universe  who has a;ready does some pretty rotten things, this would be perfectly in character for him and would not offend any sensibilities there.

Nintendo could make this in house or farm it out to another dev to make it. If they do the later, they would need to find one that could stay true to the character and his previous portrayals, while still pushing him in a new direction. Nintendo likes to experiment with different genres and put their own spin on them, which would need to be done here.. Putting Bowser, an extremely popular character, in a brawler/beat-em-up, would be great, both to expand into that genre, and to give Bowser some additional time to shine and possibly create some new experiences for players.

In general, I would like to see Nintendo go outside their comfort zones some more, like they did with Splatoon, where they gave the younger devs a chance to take the helm. That is why, if Nintendo ever does make this type of game, and makes it in house, they should make it a project for the younger developers, producers and directors to work on. But is this something you would all like to see? Let us know!
