I previously argued for a fighting game based on Warhammer 40K that would involve either the primarchs or the feast as blades as a basis. I still like those ideas but now realize there is another possibility than what I argued for. Mech based brawlers and fighting games are always a fan favourite, and Warhammer 40K has something there that would fit perfectly. Or rather to be more accurate, two options that would work perfectly for a mech based fighting game or brawler.

There are two major types of mechs in Warhammer 40K, the Imperial Knights, who can be compared to a Gundam, and the Titans, who are truly massive war mechs. Both the Imperium and Chaos have Knights, as does the Mechanicus, and a fighting game based on some Gundam Fighters like Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS Maxi Boost On, could work, with Knights fighting each other in 3D arenas. Alternatively, it could be a 2.5D fighting game as well. There are multiple classes of knights as well, and these could help make up a diverse roster.

If we factor in the Knights with different loyalties, we could have a three way storyline with rouge Mechanicus elements facing off against the Imperial aligned Knights and Chaos Knights. The Chaos Knights themselves are an interesting element, as they are corrupted knights in appearance and design as well as motives. There is a lot of potential to be had here, and we could even have new classes created for the game.  That is not a far fetched idea as some may believe, seeing as the Blood Raven space marine chapter originated in video games and now are canon on the tabletop game.

The other option for a mech based fighting game is of course the Titans. The Titans are much larger than the Knights, and while that may seem unwieldy at first, actually could be adapted well. The game could be played like the classic 3D Godzilla arena fighters for the PS2, GameCube and Original Xbox, and could involve over the top battles. In addition, not only do the Imperium and Chaos have Titans, but so do the Eldar, Orks, Tau and even the Tyranids. The wide variety of Titans available open up a large amount of potential, and the Tyranid Titans would really bring back the feel of a classic monster brawl type fighter, like the aforementioned Godzilla games, or even War of the Monster or King o the Monsters.

In the end, both ways could be good if the right developer is found. I hope some developer does pitch these ideas to games Workshop, because there is so much that can be done here

  1. we dont need a fighting game of 40k, we need 40k in pc, with easy ways to play who dont make you waste 4 hours to get a draw, especially now in a quarentine context when people cant go to public places or friends home to play it, and thats a real problem, because we live in a era were you can do everywhing on your pc but play warhammer, like, wtf man are this people so focused on selling miniatures than dont see that selling point?
