Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has shared some bad news as the company is expecting supply issues for Switch to continue in 2022. This is due to the ongoing semiconductors shortage and logistical issues going on in the tech world. Furukawa also noted that while  Nintendo’s end of 2021 sales were good, and the Switch OLED model did well, Black Friday saw a number of issues and Nintendo used air transportation to help with demand and used rail transportation in Europe for the first time.

More importantly was the fact that after Black Friday, Nintendo really didn’t have enough Switch supply for the demand.  Furukawa noted that 2022 “ will depend on demand, but as I feared, we won’t be able to make the amount of units we wanted to.” Back in November, Nintendo lowered its sales forecasts for Switch due to supply issues, after originally targeting 25.5 million units. The company ended up decreasing the number to 24 million for the fiscal year ending in March.
