World to the West is an amazing game now out on Nintendo Switch. With four different characters all with their own motivations to explore, the player is sure to find a favorite. The four characters were crafted to be unique and their different abilities all are integral to completing the game and exploring the west. World to the West is a game based around four players traveling the west to save the world.

These characters may not originally see eye to eye but by the end, they really do come to rely on each other. There’s the electrically charged Teslamancer Lumina, who’s magic  can light up a room. The brash and pompous Lord Clonington whose strength is unmatched. Miss Teri, a quick-witted scarf-wielding thief also joins the fray, with the last member being a little boy named Knaus who knows how to dig like a mole.  These four characters are bound together by a strange prophecy and the words of an old blue woman. These characters are thrust into the roles of heroes after bearing witness to a totem pole bearing their faces.

World to the West will utilize all of these characters and their powers. With plenty of monsters to face and puzzles galore, it will be up to the player to use the cast of characters to their fullest. As the game progresses the player will learn more about the group and the group will be split up in different ways. Sometimes the player will be forced to back track to collect things when their group has reformed and that just adds to the fun.

As the group travels they will also get different items that will aid them in their quest. Personally, the ice skates are the best as they allow Knaus to skate on any surface which is incredibly handy. These characters will need all the help they can get if they’re going to save the world.

World to the West is a game about traveling through dungeons, but it also has a great cast of characters and a solid story. The player will never know who they will meet next in this vast world, and that’s a great thing. This world is in ruin and sending these four misfits out on this journey really does make the most sense. It is also quite pleasing seeing this group get along as they  learn about the world.

It’s really interesting seeing how characters end up getting separated and see how they work together. The player is often forced to adjust things and remember where treasures are for later. It’s a solid system which adds to the fun of the game. It really makes use of its characters and makes sure the player uses all of the characters. The bosses are also all very different and some may end up making the player change how they approach them. It’s interesting seeing how to actually defeat these bosses with the powers the heroes have.

World to the West is well animated, that world in its own cartoony way feels alive. There are monsters roaming and creatures that have an urge to kill. With different powers at the player’s disposal, it will take all of them to change the world. The game is fluid in fleshing out the world. Returning to areas becomes second nature, as there is always something somewhere the player won’t be able to get to.

World to the West is at its core a grand adventure. Taking these four characters around this vast world is fun all the way through. The characters begin to bond and there is a sense of camaraderie. These four heroes may come from very different backgrounds but in the end they’re all that stands between the world and its looming destruction. World to the West is a game that sends the player on a worthy quest and with four friends, how can you not take the call to action?
